April’s Full Moon in Scorpio, also referred to as the pink moon, provides us with an opportunity to confront our fears and darkness to uncover the hidden treasures within. It’s considered to be a very spiritually significant moon in many cultures as it marks the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Just as Spring signifies blooming and awaking from hibernation, this full moon is representative of rebirth, growth, and renewal.
It is a time when the energy of the moon is at its peak. The Moon is bright and fully illuminated in the night sky. Astrologically, this particular full moon represents a time of heightened emotions coming to a head as the intense and transformative qualities of Scorpio are magnified.
Full Moons are often a time of acceptance and endings, for reflecting on the past and releasing the old to make way for the new. Full Moons can also be about excitement, celebrating results, and being full of gratitude. One thing is for sure though, full moons are always about balance. Full Moons occur when our Sun is in one zodiac sign (at the time of this full moon, our Sun will be in Taurus) and our Moon is sitting in the opposite zodiac sign. So, at each full moon we have these strong opposing energies of each sign that we need to find balance in. This isn’t as difficult as it sounds though since even though the signs are opposite, they always compliment and complete each other on some level. Think Yin & Yang.
Scorpio is a deeply emotional and passionate water sign associated with depth, intensity and transformation. During a Scorpio full moon, emotions will likely be heightened and there may be a focus on matters related to power, control, intimacy and hidden truths. We will likely have to confront some big triggers of our trauma that will facilitate an even bigger transformation for us right now.
This Scorpio full moon allows us to confront our fears and strip away anything that feels inauthentic, making room for something new. This is the time to shed old skin, embrace new beginnings, and emerge as a more empowered and authentic version of yourself. Our Sun is in the sign of Taurus (or it will be at the time of the full moon), and as this energy begins to take center stage, it offers an invitation to ground ourselves and integrate everything that has taken place in the last couple weeks since the eclipses. Taurus, a fixed Earth sign, has strong grounding and stabilizing energies that will support our transformation right now and help to prioritize consistency and loyalty to our pursuit for growth.
Scorpio is the ruler of the eighth House which is all about the mystical realm, the occult, hidden truths, anything taboo, and joint financial ventures. It is a fixed water sign strongly linked to themes of transformation, power, and intensity. Being a fixed sign means that Scorpio is steadfast and immovable; because of this Scorpio can be a bit afraid of change and may change slowly; even though Scorpio is about transformation, the fixed energy of this sign makes it a slower process. Being a water sign, Scorpio is often associated with the themes of emotional intensity, intimacy, and self-empowerment. This pink moon will definitely encourage you to let go of what no longer serves you and seize your inner power. You may also find yourself reflecting on your deepest desires and passions, but either way, this is a time to focus on personal growth and self-discovery, as Scorpio is encouraging you to dive deep into your inner self.
This full moon comes right after the intense and foundation shaking eclipses we just experienced and could have you searching for a sense of security and balance. In order to attain this balance, you will need to confront the fears that are holding you back and release them.
Pluto (Scorpio’s ruling planet), the planet of death and rebirth, is stationed in Aquarius and is a major player during this month's full moon. Pluto, the destroyer, sits at the apex of a tense T-square (squares represent crisis or challenges) during the full moon, making the conflicting energies between the Sun and Moon a bit more explosive than usual. We can all expect to feel a bit conflicted between the desire for outward worldly success, material security, and the calling to live a more emotionally intimate and authentic lifestyle. Pluto stationed in Aquarius is causing the collective to examine any false beliefs or perceptions we hold about ourselves. Fears often stem from our false illusions, and they hinder us from reaching our full potential. This month's full moon presents an opportunity to let go of these illusions and move closer to the truth, our own inner truth.
This full moon in Scorpio has yet another trick up its sleeve, and that is the rare conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Uranus occurring April 20-21. Every 14 years, the planet of luck (Jupiter) links up with the planet of innovation and change (Uranus, Ruler of Aquarius) to help us break through barriers and uncover uncharted areas within ourselves. If everything feels like it's shifting and changing for you, it's because you are tuning into the celestial energies right now, and the Universe is helping to remove the boundaries and limitations that have kept you down thus far in your journey. You are rebelling (Aquarius) against the systems, situations, and relationships that benefit from your self-doubt. As Jupiter aligns with Uranus, a new kind of soul transformation is invited. It's time to dream of new possibilities previously beyond your reach and let go of outdated ideas or fears keeping you from pursuing these dreams.
This Full Moon embodies “as above, so below” as it mirrors the dance between the material (Taurus) and mystical (Scorpio) realms. Taurus, symbolized by the slow and steady bull, represents the earthly realm, with its focus on stability, security, and the life's luxuries. Whereas Scorpio, represented by the striking scorpion, goes deep into the depths of the psyche, exploring the realms of passion, power, and transformation. Okay, that is literally the 7th time I have used the word “transformation” … I will write it again, TRANSFORMATION. This is a major theme of this full moon.
Say it with me, T R A N S F O R M A T I O N – and now, embrace it.
I encourage you to use this powerful Scorpio full moon to shed old ideas and ways of being that are not working for you so that you can transform your inner world and manifest all your desires into reality. This is a wonderful time for contemplation, meditation, journaling, attending a sound bath, and even listening to music as a form of therapy (not as escapism) as after all, Taurus energy loves music. Tend to your inner world so that you can truly begin to bloom with intention.
