Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra highlights our relationships

A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra is taking place on March 25, 2024.

Eclipse season is upon us, and we’re kicking it off with a Full Moon in Libra occurring on March 25, 2024.  Eclipses are powerful catalysts for change that usually represent endings, life-changing and transformative events, and death for some type of rebirth.

Full Moons are about culminations or endings and letting go… and Eclipses amplify the energy of a Full Moon, so you can think of them as Full Moon energy times ten! Like a Full Moon on steroids. For that reason, eclipses are incredibly powerful and believed to open up portals to higher states of consciousness. Eclipses are karmic / fated events… they’re about destiny.

This is a South Node eclipse, and in astrology the South Node is known as the tail of the dragon – representative of the past, things we need to detach from, things we keep repeating over and over that need to be released. So, this eclipse may trigger something from the past, especially some pattern in your relationships that needs to be addressed.  Now is the time to make a conscious decision to let it go, to release the patterns. If you are new to the Nodes of Destiny, here's a quick rundown: The Nodes of Destiny are the two points in the sky where the Moon and Sun cross paths. The Sun and The Moon cross paths a few times a year, during which we experience the astrological phenomenon known as eclipses. In astrology, the nodes represent the spiritual paths that we should move toward and let go of, as well as the type of energy we are currently working with. The nodes are always in two opposite signs. For example, if the North Node is in Aries, the South Node will be in Libra (which is what we have occurring during this eclipse).

Eclipses are game changers. They are transformative, often bringing life-changing events… eclipse energy can be felt 4-6 weeks before and after the event, and the impact of an eclipse can last even longer – they are cycles and very insightful as to our own transformation – we may see similarities from the past or see a repeat of some lessons that  still need to be learned, but they are not actually the same because we are different, we have changed since the last eclipse season – so it’s more of an invitation to see how far we’ve come, how we’ve grown – how we react now to the same type of situations.

This Full Moon takes place in the sign of Libra, which is all about relationships and partnerships, justice, beauty, balance and harmony.  Libra is about all types of relationships, but right now our relationship with ourselves is especially being highlighted. This is the foundation and influence of ALL of our relationships, where all other relationships are manifest, projected, and experienced from, our relationship with ourselves is who we are in our relationships with others – how we deal with relationships, our expectations in relationships.

The scales of Libra represent the balance between giving and receiving in our lives. Where are we giving too much? Where are we not giving enough?

We learn so much about ourselves (Aries, the “me” energy) through our relationships with others (Libra, the “we” energy) – so we have this opposing interaction between the signs and a need to balance these energies.  Libra energy reminds us that everyone we meet is a teacher and really just a reflection of a deeper part of ourselves. What we see in others and what we struggle with in others is a powerful lesson for us, too.  An insight into hidden parts of us.  Our shadows.

This eclipse is connected to the total solar eclipse that we are going to have on April 8 in the sign of Aries.  The time period between two eclipses can be very intense – it can feel like a push and pull – there is a necessity to step away from something and we may fight with ourselves to release this and be able to change the pattern.  This is a very powerful time to establish who we are, our relationship with ourselves, and who and how we are in our most important relationships – the Sun is in the sign of Aries right now, which is all about “me” / individual energy, and soon we will have the solar eclipse in Aries, and the North Node of Destiny is currently in Aries.  The North Node, which is known in astrology as the head of the dragon, is all about the future, where we are supposed to move towards, our place of highest aspirations, and what we should focus on – especially in our relationships right now during this eclipse cycle. What do you need to leave behind (ex: self-sacrifice, victim martyr mentality, dominating others, dismissing others, etc.).

The lunar and solar eclipses on March 25th and April 8th will likely resurrect buried or suppressed emotions and these will serve as reminders of what we need for growth going forward.

If any challenges in your relationships (friend, work, self, love) come up under this Libra Eclipse, explore the challenges deeper rather than just pointing a finger or looking to blame someone else. Go deeper within and ask what this conflict may be trying to teach you. Hold up a mirror to the situation and see, really look, at what is being reflected. Ask yourself what lessons can be learned and take initiative to release what’s needed to move forward through these lessons.

It is never easy to do this on your own, and sometimes it takes time for all of these questions to even be realized. Try your best to hold space under this Eclipse to bring some attention and focus back on to yourself and ask how what comes up under this eclipse can empower you.

Some great ideas for this eclipse include meditation, breath work aimed at creating balance, meeting up with a close friend or family member for a walk, and practicing a releasing ritual.
